Appearance
Bright white to milky off-white with faint grey veining on larger fractions. Freshly crushed chips have a matte, crystalline break; tumbled or washed material reads slightly glossier when wet. Fine grades (under 3 mm) look near-uniform, while 10-20 mm chips show more individual veining.
Indoor and outdoor suitability
Used both indoors and outdoors. Indoors it is the standard aggregate for terrazzo and mosaic floors. Outdoors it stays cooler underfoot than dark stone but shows soil and organic staining sooner, so open garden beds usually need periodic rinsing.
How to choose the right chip size
For polished terrazzo most contractors work with 3-6 mm and 5-8 mm. For loose ground cover and planter topping, 10-20 mm holds its position better and moves less when walked on.
