20–40 mm Marble Chips

20-40 mm marble chips are the largest grade in common decorative use. They are chosen for driveways, rockeries, large commercial landscaping and any area that must handle weight or read clearly from a distance.

What this size looks like

Large individual stones with pronounced shape and veining. Strongly textural and clearly visible from across a site.

Suitable applications

  • Light-vehicle driveways
  • Rockeries and large feature beds
  • Commercial and institutional landscaping
  • Erosion-control and slope cover

Packaging

Supplied in woven bags for smaller quantities and in jumbo bags or loose bulk for larger orders. Pick the packing your site can offload — jumbo bags need mechanical handling.

Bulk orders

For multi-tonne requirements, share the colour, quantity, packing preference, delivery city and timeframe. The bulk supply page lists everything needed for a firm quotation.

Size tolerance

Marble chips are screened, not machined. A 20–40 mm batch will contain some pieces slightly above or below the nominal band — this is normal for crushed stone. Where a tight grading matters, say so at the enquiry stage so the requirement can be discussed before dispatch. We do not publish engineering tolerances we cannot verify for a given batch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 20-40 mm suitable for a driveway?
Yes, over a properly compacted sub-base. Chip size alone does not make a driveway durable — the base layer does.
Is it comfortable to walk on?
Not particularly. For walked routes, use 10-20 mm or a paved path with chips either side.
How deep should the layer be?
Around 50 mm for decorative cover; driveways usually need more. Confirm with your contractor.
