Marble Chips for Planters
Last reviewed 2026-03-24 · MarbleChips.in product team
Chips finish a planter beautifully — as long as the layer stays thin and reasonably coarse.
Keep the layer thin
20-30 mm is enough to cover the soil and stop splashing. Deeper layers, particularly of fine chips, can slow water reaching the root zone.
Use a coarse enough grade
8-10 mm is the usual planter size. It stays in place when watering and does not compact into a sealed crust the way fine grades can.
Colour and heat
Dark chips in direct sun warm the pot surface and increase evaporation. In hot outdoor positions, lighter chips are the safer choice.
Reuse when repotting
Chips are inert and reusable. Rinse them when you repot and lay them straight back — there is no need to buy fresh material each time.
