Marble Chips for Garden Landscaping

A practical walkthrough for using marble chips in a home garden, from planning to laying.
Plan the areas first
Decide which areas are walked and which are purely decorative before choosing a grade. Walked areas want 10-20 mm; decorative beds want 8-10 mm. Mixing grades between zones looks intentional; mixing them within a zone looks accidental.
Prepare the base
Clear the area, level it, and lay a permeable weed membrane. Skipping the membrane is the most common mistake — without it, soil works up into the chips within a season and the surface never looks clean again.
Choose a colour that suits the planting
White and grey give a crisp modern contrast against green foliage. Brown and yellow read as a natural extension of the soil. Green blends into planting. Multicolor suits playful or children's spaces.
Lay, edge and top up
Spread to about 40-50 mm and rake level. Install edging along lawn boundaries so chips do not migrate. Expect to add a small top-up after the first season as the layer beds in.
