Marble Chips for Epoxy Flooring

Last reviewed 2026-03-06 · MarbleChips.in product team

Epoxy terrazzo is thin and fast. That constrains chip size and puts strict demands on moisture.

Thin systems mean small chips

Epoxy terrazzo toppings are typically far thinner than cement terrazzo, so the aggregate has to be correspondingly smaller. 2-3 mm and 3-6 mm cover most work; anything larger risks protruding through the surface.

Dryness is not optional

Moisture in the aggregate interferes with epoxy curing and can cause hazing and poor bond. Most systems require dried chips. State this requirement clearly when ordering so the material is prepared and packed accordingly.

Colour reads stronger in epoxy

A clear or lightly tinted epoxy binder lets the full chip colour show, unlike grey cement which mutes everything. Colours that look right in a cement sample can look considerably more saturated in epoxy, so sample in the actual system.

Follow the system supplier

Substrate preparation, priming, mix ratios and cure times all come from your epoxy manufacturer. Chip supply fits into their specification, not the other way round.

This guide is general information. For installation and construction decisions, follow the specification of your contractor, flooring specialist or engineer.
